Winning MartyBowl is great, but the real story is 1-0 district record

I love the fact that we have bragging rights over Mercer and Marty, but the most important thing that happened last night was the fact that Lincoln began district play with a win and a leg up on the district race. Getting a victory on the road in a 5A district is monumental. Hats off to the OC for opening up the passing game and to the DC for shutting Mercer out in the second half. When the D-line got penetration last night, the Mercer offense went nowhere. We will need big play on both lines next week when Southwestern rolls into Death Valley. Perhaps the thing that will pay off down the road is getting a goal line defensive stand to win the game. There was a lot of good individual play last night, but it was truly a team win from the coaching staff down to the players. Let's make an effort to bring some fans to the Valley on Friday night and give SW a big L and send them on their way. Go Pats!

To me the thing that is important is the mental aspect. We have the mental advantage over them now because we smacked their offense in the mouth, which will still be in the back of their minds at the re-match. Several of the defensive Patriots told me last night that Mercer didn't want to be hit. Now our team knows what kind of performance it takes to win the game. We have set the benchmark!!!
The fact that the Pats beat two teams back to back that they weren't supposed to is enough drive for us to have a successful season.

Lets be technical. "5A district win on road is monumental". CRAP, big thing is that we beat a team that no one outside Lincoln Co. thought we could. Period, end of story. That is the headline. If we went to Lex Cath and beat them, it would not be important? If you believe that then kiss the tooth fairy for me the next time you see her.
District wins are great, but just like beating Rockcastle last year, winning a big game creates a buzz, it gives you something to build on. Play with emotion, playmakers make the plays, everyone do your job, and JUST WIN BABY. If you do these things at the end of the year you have all the monumental victories you need to have a good program.

Who the H#!! is up at 7:40 am on saturday writing to a blog. Buddy, learn to enjoy Friday night. you know that curfew is extended on weekends? Loosen up, maybe you need to take some lesson from the OC. fake every now and again, and then go for the goal. although in you case probably used to playing alone.

Getting a heads up in the district is a big deal, getting to 2-0 next week is even bigger. The new district seems to be very competitive, with Pulaski getting off too hot start it seems to be wide open.
