Lady Pats Advance to Championship Game

The Lady Pats put together a very good performance on Friday night to defeatthe Southwestern Lady Warriors. The Lady Pats won 63-49.

They will now play Rockcastle County in the 12th region championship game at Lincoln County High School at 7:30pm on Saturday night. This will be Head Coach Don Story's last game ever at home.

Everyone needs to get out and support these girls and coach Story. It's going to to be a special night, no matter the outcome of the game. Should be a classic. Tip is set for 7:30pm.

Lady Pats Advance 49-40

The Lincoln County Lady Pats found a way to survive and advance. That's the name of the game in March.

The Lady Pats were led in scoring by senior Kendra Brown (16pts). Upchurch threw in 14pts. It was a team effort from the team. The Lady Pats led most of the night, but surrendered the lead in the 4th quarter to Casey. LC finally seized control late in the 4th on back-to-back three's by Emily Fox and Jessica Upchurch.

LC will play Southwestern on Friday night at 6pm.

12th Region Tournament

Lincoln County is hosting the 12th region tournament this year. It promises to be a very emotional event for the Lady Pats.

They are the home team, the co-favorite, and are playing the last game(s) of Head Coach Don Story's career. Story is planning on retiring when the season ends. That could be tonight, when the Lady Pats host their arch rival, the Casey County Lady Rebels. Hopefully that won't be the case and Story's girls will win the region and go to the Sweet Sixteen in Bowling Green next week.

A very tough draw for the first round of the region. Casey is easily the best of the (losers bracket) teams. Casey defeated Lincoln County last year in the 12th Region Championship game.

The Lady Pats and Lady Rebels will do battle at 7:45 tonight, at LCHS. Good luck to Coach Story and the girls.

Lady Pats 45th District Champs

45th District Championship final from Danville High School.

Great effort from Garrard County, close game for the first 3 quarters. LC went on a 12-0 run late in the 3rd quarter into the 4th quarter to pull away. This is LC's 3rd straight championship.

The 12th region draw will be held on Saturday morning live on WPBK-FM.

Lady Pats Ready for Another Championship

The Lady Pats are set to cut down the nets again. They are set for a deep run in the regional tournament, that will be played on their home court. But first, another 45th district crown.

The Lady Pats will play Garrard County, who they've already destroyed twice, at Danville High School on Friday night.

Good luck, and get out and support the team.

Boys Fall in Opening Round

For the first time in a long time, the boys will not be playing in the regional tournament. They were defeated by the host school, Danville, Wednesday night 48-41.

LC got some horrible calls from the refs. Some unbelievable fouls were called totally changing the game.

Congrats to Coach Jackon's and the Patriots. They finished the season 16-10.

Boys/Girls Sweep Season Finale @ Casey County

The regular season has came to an end for both the boys and girls. And both had fantastic seasons.

The girls finished 20-4 (6-0 district). It took a gritty 1 pt victory over Casey County to earn their 20th win. It was an important win for the Lady Pats. The Lady Rebels have been a nemesis to the Lady Pats the past couple of season. The Lady Pats are the 1 seed in the district tournament.

The boys also finished the season strong, defeating Casey County by 14pts. The win ran the boys record to 16-9 (5-1 district). The boys tied for the one one seed with Boyle County, however loss the coin flip and will play as the two seed in the district tournament.

The Lady Pats will play Danville in the first round of the district tournament. The boys will also play Danville on Wednesday night, @ 7:30.

District Tournament Seeding

The season is winding down, and the district tournament is set to start next week. Both, boys and girls, have had great regular seasons. Both finishing first in the 45th district.

The Girls finished district play a perfect 6-0. They will play Danville (the host school) in the first round of the district tournament next week. The Lady Pats are the favorite in the 45th.

The Boys finished in a tie for first place with Boyle County. Since the two teams tied, they had to go to a tie-breaker. The first tie-breaker was common 12th region opponents (teams that both Boyle Co. and LC played against this season) at common venues. It came down to two teams. Both played @ Mercer Co. and at @ West Jessamine. Here's where it gets complicated. Boyle won @ Mercer County and lost @ West. LC won @ West and lost @ Mercer. So tie-breaker one didn't help.

On too tie-breaker two. The good old coin flip. And...... Boyle won that. Therefore they get the one seed in the district tournament. Which is a big deal this season, Danville is a dangerous 3 seed. Especially on their home court. The Pats will have to win for a third time this season against the Ads in order to make it to the 12th region tournament. Boyle will face a very weak Garrard County team (basically a bye).

Should be an exciting girls and boys tournament. People need to get out and support the teams next week.

Cooper-13 pts

What A Week

The Patriots picked up their second straight victory on Tuesday night. They started the week winning a key district game against Boyle County. Tuesday night they played Marion County.

The Pats blew them away, 77-60, but the real story is senior guard Colby Long. Long poured in 45pts for LC. Congrats to Long and Pats.

Rivalry?

I'm pretty sure this Advocate Messenger article, story, is referring to the LC/BC rivalry. The BC kids really gave it to LC a couple weeks ago when they split a double-header with LC. I honestly couldn't believe some of the stuff they were saying.

Probably a good time to run this story, hopefully the LC kids won't act the same way tomorrow night when BC travels to LC for a girl/boys double-header. A very important game for the boys in their quest for the district 1 seed.

The boys basketball series between these two has really heated up the last decade. The girls have pretty much owned the district for years now.
