Pats roll over Southwestern 49-24

The mighty Patriots got the game started off on the right foot when Patriot stud Ryan Young returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Lincoln offense finally caught up with the defense and sent the Warriors South with their heads hanging low. Southwestern's quarterback had a great arm and it looked like it was going to be a shootout with Lincoln trailing at halftime 18-14. But the horses came out in the second half....Avery Spicer and Dustin Brummett ran the ball very well tonight with Spicer scoring 2 rushing touchdowns and Brummett 3. Avery ran with more explosive speed than I have seen him run all year. Brummett looked just as elusive but overpowered the defense with his strength. He ran over 2 defenders on his 1st td and then stiff-armed another for his 2nd td. Quarterback Levi Rogers also ran for a touchdown in the 4th quarter. The Lincoln passing game was stymied tonight with both Young and Noah Keeton drawing double coverage most of the night. Trey Edwards played a solid game and made some key plays throughout the night. The defense as usual played great with good showings from Young, Brummett, Skyler Gilbert, Rob Conatser, Devon Denson, and Cody Reed. I am very proud of our defensive line as well, you don't see the little things that those guys do every Friday night but they lay it on the line.
Speaking of the line I want to express our concern with the injury to Nathan Bustle. I do not know the severity of the injury at this time but our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. He is one of the toughest guys I know and should be an inspiration to us all, so I know he will get through anything that comes his way because he is a fighter.
Our team once again should feel great about this win over a very good football team. Southwestern has put some points on people and their quarterback was impressive. I just want to say that our team is playing with emotion and spirit and I love it! When people see these guys out, I hope they shake their hands and tell them how much pride they are providing our community. Keep on rolling Patriots!

Last I heard of Bustles knee was that the knee kap was knocked out of place and the trainer popped it back in on the Field. They will probably get it checked out, but other than it being sore he should be fine was I had heard. Nathan's a very tough kid I hope everything turns out good and hes back on the field soon.

The tone set by Avery Spicer's running early in the game was very important.

He ran and played harder than I have ever seen before. Very impressed with the kid. Hope he keeps it up.
