Boyle County Gets Lucky

The double header planned, between the Lincoln County Patirots and the Boyle County Rebels, for Friday night in Danville has been cancelled due to the ice storm.

There will be a boys/girls double header tomorrow night in Stanford. The boys will play Somerset at 6:00, then the Lady Pats will play Somerset at 7:30 (this game was scheduled for Monday night, but got moved up to Saturday night).

Stay warm...

Congrats 6th Graders

The Lincoln County 6th grade basketball squad had an amazing run in the State 6th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament last weekend in Lexington.

The boys made it all the way to the final four before losing to South Laurel. This is only the second time in history that an LC boys middle school team has made it to the final four. The future is bright for Lincoln County basketball.

Congratulations boys, way to represent the county.

Lady Pats Escape With a Victory

The Lincoln County Lady Patriots traveled to Laurel County to play the dangerous North Laurel Lady Jaguars Monday night, and came away with a BIG victory, 41-37.

It was a closely contested game for four quarters. LC got in early foul trouble and had trouble finding points in the first half. They trailed for most of the game (led briefly in the first quarter), until finally gaining a 31-30 lead with around 6 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Lady Pats used stifling defense in the fourth quarter, holding the Lady Jags scoreless until the 2:14 mark of the quarter. By this team LC had built a 37-30 lead, that would prove to be too much for North Laurel. The win runs LC's record to 16-4 (undefeated in the 12th region).

This is a great defensive team, and defense wins championships.

A Win and A Loss

The Lady Pats won a pivotal 12th region match up at Southwestern Pulaski. 42-36.

The boys lost to Madison Central, 63-50. I don't have much info on either game. Those in attendance, feel free to comment.

More On the BAD Night

Here are a few key points from the article:

*Least amount of points since a game back in 06.
*Shot 25% from the floor, missed a lot of uncontested shots.
*Garrard wanted this game more, and it showed. It is very interesting to read some of the quotes in the article. About how they view LC as their biggest rival, and how they were so fired up for the game.

The key to a bad loss like this is how you respond. Let's hope this was the wake up call the team needed to show they have to go hard every night.

Garrard wins National Championship

Garrard County beat Lincoln tonight 56-37 to bring home their first national championship. At least I think it was the national championship, because they were fired up like it was the biggest game of their lives. Seriously, it was a terrible performance all around and Garrard played with intensity to take Lincoln out of their game. We got beat on back door cuts all game and couldn't connect on the three ball. Lincoln should use this as motivation for the rest of the season. I look forward to the re-match in February back in Patriot Arena.
Although it has nothing to do with sports, David Hacker was ejected from the game and arrested. Just my opinion but the school board and the administration should ban him from any future sporting event. Good evening and good night.

Lady Pats Fall to E-twon 51-46

The Lincoln County Lady Pats lost a heart breaker to state title contender Elizabethtown in Stanford on Monday night. It marks the third time the Lady Pats have lost to a top ten school this season. It was a close game all night.

The Lady Pats need to find a way to score more easily. They hit 9 three's and only had 46 pts to show for it. That's not efficient offense. The defense was stellar, as usual. This is not a bad loss, but a team as good LC doesn't believe in moral victories. The Lady Pats will head back into 12th region play at Southwestern on Friday night. E-town used great free-throw shooting down the stretch to cement the victory, going 9-11 in the 4th quarter.

8th grader Emily Fox is a big time shooter. She came off the bench and drained two big treys in the 4th to keep LC in the game.

Rating the State

According to Dave Cantrell's Rating the State, Lexington Herald Leader, the LC Lady Pats are 13th in the state and 3rd in the region??? He has them behind Rockcastle. Didn't LC beat the Rock?

http://www.kentucky.com/813/story/663558-p2.html

LC's boys are ranked 2nd in the region.

Pats Pull the Brooms Out on Rebs

Lincoln County pulled off another 12th region sweep in Stanford on Friday night. The girls DOMINATED the Lady Rebels, from Boyle County, 72-33. It was a blow out from the opening tip-off. There isn't a team in the 45th district that can give the Lady Pats a competitive game. They are 14-3, 3-0 in district play.

The boys had an easy time too. They were led in scoring by Colby Long, who finished with 23pts. Trevor Edgington played a nice game too. The boys led by double figures most of the night, and went on to win 66-43. The win puts LC at 2-0 in district play, and 9-5 overall. The Pats continued their home court dominance, they haven't lost a home game all year. And only five the last three years.

The Lady Pats will play E-Town next Monday. Both teams are ranked pretty highly in most polls. The boys will travel to Lancaster to play Garrard County on Tuesday night. It will be an important game, I think Garrard and Lincoln are the two best teams in the area.

Lincoln Easily Defeats Pulaski

The Lincoln County Patriots seem to be playing their best ball of the season, at just the right time. The Pats won their first game of 2009 over Danville in blowout fashion, and they did the same tonight in Somerset defeating PC 73-53.

The Pats led the entire game, by as many as 28 pts early in the 3rd. It was good to see some of the other guys step up, and show that the Pats can win without Ethan Spurlin dropping 30. The win puts LC at 8-5 on the season, with only one loss within the 12th region. The loss dropped PC to 8-8.

Here is a look at the scoring:

Lady Pats Demolish Toyota (Scott County)

The car industry isn't the only thing struggling in Georgetown. The Scott County Lady Cardinals aren't having the best of seasons, and it didn't get any better tonight in Stanford.

The highly touted Lady Pats took care of business, defeating Scott County 65-49. The win ran LC's record to 13-3, the loss dropped Scott County to 5-10. Next up for the Lady Pats, Boyle County.

The Show Stopper

The LadyPats got an easy win to run their record to 2-0 in the district. The boys game, on the other hand, never got started due to a clock malfunction.

The game was rescheduled for February 9th, at 7:30.

Big District Double Dip

As usual, there is a double header tonight in Stanford. This is a little different, the girls play first and the boys play second. It is the second district game of the year for both squads.

The girls need to keep displaying their dominance within the 45th district, and start the season 2-0. As do the boys, however it may be a little more difficult for them.

Garrard County has started the season 11-3. There is some chatter in Lancaster that they are the team to beat this year, in the 45th District. I beg to differ! You got to beat the champ to be the champ, and Garrard has lost 7 straight against the Pats. This is a big game, it is very important to defend home court in this very competitive 12th region. Garrard recently beat Danville, at Danville. Lincoln lost to Danville in a holiday tournament, and then blew them out last Tuesday. Lincoln blew West Jess. back to Nicholasville, and West Jess. beat Garrard. So who knows, just lace 'em up and get the W.

Pats Dominate Admirals

The boys more than avenged their lost to Danville Tuesday night in Stanford, whipping Danville 70-49 and improving their record to 7-5

The Pats lost by 1pt on a buzzer beater last time the two hooked up in a non-district game in Lexington. This time around was a different story, the Pats defended home court and set the tone for 45th district play. LC was led in scoring by Ethan Spurlin, who poured in 36 pts and grabbed a TON of rebounds.

The LadyPats took care of business too, defeating the LadyAdmirals 56-37.

This was a great way to start district play for both squads. The LadyPats are now 11-3. The two teams play again Friday night against Garrard County. The Golden Lions (boys) are off to an 11-3 start against questionable competition. Nevertheless, it is important to win ALL district games.
The LadyLions... well what's it matter. The LadyPats will not lose a game in the district this year.

The Real Season Starts

OK folks, the real high school basketball season is upon us. Life in the seemingly ultra competitive 45th district starts tomorrow night in Stanford for the Patriots. Well, at least competitive for the boys. I think the girls will quite easily win the district. The boys, on the other hand, are gonna have their hands full.

LC (boys) lost to Danville over Christmas break on a buzzer beater. That same Danville squad lost their district opener, last Saturday, to Garrard County. So yeah, it's going to be a tough year. Lincoln, Boyle, Danville and Garrard are all capable of winning the district, and maybe even the region.

The boys and girls need your help, everyone get out to the gym and support these teams as they start district play.
