Senior Night at Death Valley

Perennial west KY powerhouse Hopkinsville High School is making the trip eastward this week for a tangle with the Lincoln County Patriots in Death Valley.

Hopkinsville brings a record of 4-5 (2-1 region). They are coming off a win last week against Warren Central. Hopkinsville is averaging 17 pts per game and giving up 23 pts per game. Hopkinsville has one common opponent with Lincoln. They defeated Mercer County three weeks ago in Hop-town, 17-14.

Lincoln is 7-2 (4-0 district). LC is looking to rebound from a tough loss last week in Georgetown, where they fell to 6a powerhouse Scott County by a score of 20-18. The failure to connect on the first extra point game proved to be the difference in the game, LC failed to convert on all three extra point attempts in the game, ultimately being the difference in the contest. The Pats showed great effort and determination, and showed they are poised to make a playoff run in the coming weeks.

LC is averaging 25 pts per game and are giving up a stingy 14 pts per contest. Lincoln has the fifth ranked defense in 5a.

Fans need to come out and show their support for this team, and more importantly for this senior class. They have had a phenomenal couple seasons, putting this program back on the map statewide. The program has came a long way in the short tenure of Coach Larry French, and these seniors are a big reason why. No one predicted this team to have a winning record this year, much less dominate the district and quite possibly be the best team in the "Advocate Messenger" area.

Let's hope they can get a victory against Hop-town this Friday night on senior night, and parlay that into a big playoff run.

My prediction:

LC 26
Hop-town 14

I have been in Hopkinsville every month for the last 2 years, and I hate that town....They have zero respect for Lincoln County and think they are going to come in here and beat us with their name. I hope we show them what LINCOLN is all about. We need to shut down the running back McGregor #13. End of story. Lincoln 33 Ho-town 13
