I have a strong feeling the hiring of the new coach is coming very soon. And I think it is going to be Settles from Bullit East. This would be a great hire.

It appears he is interested too:

This is very exciting.

I will get the update for you guys on Settles. I sent him a email interview and I will call him tomorrow to let you know more on where he stands. It looks like he will indeed be your next coach. In a previous interview I had with him, he says that Lincoln County is one of the best coaching jobs in the state and that you fans are some of teh very best if not the best. He also weighed in on his family has ties with Lincon County. I am truly excited for your school if this does happen.

I would be very pleased if Settles is named our new head coach. I know some on here have expressed displeasure with him running the veer. It may not be the most glamorus system, but it should be effective for Lincoln. We just do not year in year out have the personnel to pass all over the place, we historically have been a smash mouth program and our personnel does match up will with running the veer, if indeed that is the system he would use.

Your Coach Update is now posted on our website. www.ckysports.com

I hope that LC can land Settles. BB sure looks like the concerns that French had about LC are still here."I see some of the issues that Larry had and know the success he still had. Imagine if all that stuff was in line." Mike Settles. Guess your info. about what the Admin. offered French was wrong. I believe, as does Settles, that all the "challenges" are still here. Are you going to admit that the Admin. drop the ball or just be content carrying their water.

hazmit you said you believed in free speech, then why the deleted post? I guess that applies only if you agree with that speech.

Anonymous said...

I'll be real surprised if Settles does not end up here. He will br a good fit for LC. His comments lead to the fact that he is looking to build the "entire" program, not just looking for a few good seasons. LC only dressing 40 or so players and playing only 3 JV games this past year might also say something about what French's plans where for his future.

Anonymous said...

ckysports is reporting that Settles will be our next coach.

guru said...

I think the admin is willing to take care of all of Coach French's past concerns and any futuer coach's concerns within reason. I also think the community/booster club will be more apt to help this time around. I am excited for a new coach whoever it is. If it is Settles, then great!

Lee Ann said...

I would have liked to get an interview with Buchanan too. However, Settles looks like a good candidate. I think his family ties to the area will bring added loyalty to the Lincoln program.

Unknown said...

Looks like Settles will be a good fit, if lincoln can settle his demands that weren't reached for french, contrary to misbelief on some.

BS said...

Another powerful area program lost their head coach this past week. Rockcastle County Larkey to Harlan County. He did a great job, but decided to move on.

They have replaced him with Scott Parkey. Long time assistant of Larkey.

I have also heard rumors that Stonebreaker, Garrard County, is resigning. He seems to have underachieved at Garrard County.

Anonymous said...

Guys after talking with Coach Settles, I am confident that he will be your next head coach. The Garrard County guy may pop up at West Jessamine.

BS said...

I wasn't saying LC should go after him, just throwing it out there.

Why would West Jess go after him. He has done a poor job at Garrard. He did well at Casey, playing a poor schedule. But he has underachieved seeing going to Lancaster.

Anonymous said...

Did you see West Jessamines season last year? West has to fill a spot after Coach Hamilton said that he will not be the coach next season. Hamilton is West Jessamine's baseball coach and was filling in as football coach after their former coach quit three games into the season. West is desperate right now after interviews have gone south.

Anonymous said...

It is official, Stonebreaker is gone at Garrard. An inside source tells me they saw Chris Cooper (assistant coach at Garrard) at the Guadalara the other night and he said he was interested in getting the Garrard Job.

BS said...

Yeah, there is an article in the advocate messengar regarding Stonebreaker.

He mentions he would like to be an assistant coach somewhere.

I too have heard Cooper would like a shot at the job.

Anonymous said...

Settles will be next coach. Something about proximity to lake cumberland for his wife (heard in town the other day). She already spends summers there, and would like to be closer.
If the problems French spoke of need fixed the biggest one is money. all of you poo-pooing admin need to just open your wallet and donate to the booster club. or better yet give all coaches a "part-time" job making 25K for nothing work. Or buy some textbooks to help the school out. get off it, if other places are so good and we are so bad, why do we win more than we lose? Ask Boyle. maybe grass aint greener?
And ill give you this, I could afford to hire all of them, but i would rather leave the school to manage its affairs. put up or shut up is how i see it, and most of you dont ever put up.

Anonymous said...

Unless your 1 of 3 people in this town you can't afford ****. We win because we have talent and good instruction.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know there was only three people in Lincoln County that could afford things.

hazmit said...

I can't afford anything, so I guess you're not talking about me. But that doesn't stop me from supporting the program. You are either behind the program or not. I am and I prove it everyday. Everyone should support the program in their own way, whether it be financially or another way. Go Patriots!!! Cheerleading is FREE baby!!! I'm thinking of interviewing for the cheerleading coach!!!

Anonymous said...

poopy

Anonymous said...

everybody keep crying about how bad our program is and we can hire a little league coach. we arent that bad. we have a good program. 100 other schools would like to have the program we have. be supportive and try to help the coaching search or get out of the way before the bus runs you over

hazmit said...

Hopefully we'll have a coach by next week. I think the last interview was scheduled for today, so things may change with the weather situation.
Whomever is hired, let's all get behind him and support/welcome him and do whatever it takes to win a state championship. I want some rings floating around Standing Fort!!!!

whiteskill said...

My vote is for Settles...When is he coming? I own two men and a truck out of Lexington, I'll move him for free.

BS said...

I hope we get confirmation on the new coach soon. Hopefully it will be Settles.

Anyone hearing anything. It would be sweet if they introduced Settles at the Rockcastle game this weekend.

Better yet, publicly introduce him in the district championship game against BC. That is a big risk though, BC might not make it there.

Introduce him on homecoming, that is if he is coming....

hazmit said...

I just noticed Guru's comment from earlier, only in Standing Fort can you get inside coaching intel at the Guadalahara!!!! Hilarious. Settles needs to listen to his wife like all good husbands do and move her home baby!!!! Everybody knows you can't keep a girl away from her momma. The code my son and I live by in our house is "if momma ain't happy, then nobody's happy"

Anonymous said...

lincoln needs to pull the trigger and hire Settles. sooner the better

Lee Ann said...

I think it's pretty much cut and dry, let's go ahead and name Settles as the new coach. I am excited about what he would bring to our program.

I'm with you BB, let's announce him at homecoming. That would be a good way to get him exposure to the public.

Anonymous said...

KHSAA or Dept of ED rules are that a job has to be posted for 30 days before it can be filled. wont know who is the coach until the 30 day posting is up. Job should have been posted within days of French resigning.
Dont get me wrong, Settles has my vote. but we dont want to screw up and break some rule in the process.

BS said...

The job was never posted, so the school does not have to wait 30 days. They can hire a coach as soon as they choose too.

You only have to wait 30 days if you post the job.

BS said...

There should be an announcement tommorow regarding the new coach.

Anonymous said...

talked to Settles father in law today and he talks like Settles has been offered the job. didnt say it for certain, but talked like it could happen soon.

hazmit said...

I believe Settles has been offered the job too, whether he has accepted or not I don't know. I heard he was worried about the relationship with the principal, if that's an issue someone needs to reassure him that whatever problems can be corrected.

I am looking for a big announcement tomorrow baby!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

ckysports.com is reporting its a done deal.

Anonymous said...

Quick Update.... I have again talked with Coach Settles and here is what he says...

"Yes, I am currently in a decision period. I have asked Mr. Ralston for an extension to my original deciding date of today. I have been down to Lincoln County on several occasions visiting with principal’s, parks and rec coordinators, department heads, etc. I will notify Mr. Ralston by Monday."

Anonymous said...

he's checking the word out of the AD to see if he is BS'n him.

Anonymous said...

Lets hope Mike will take the job. I hope that everyone worked with him and will try to get him to come, I hope that he knows that people not from Lincoln Co will not stay and will not be here in a year or two.

Anonymous said...

i've heard he is not coming because of judy hall, lets get rid of her

Anonymous said...

This is Judy and I am going to whoop your A$$!

BS said...

One factor not being mentioned, on behalf of Settles taking the job, is that Settles has a lot of talent coming back to Bullit East next year. It is hard to walk away from a situation that you know will have positive outcome.

LC is a fine program, and has potential, but it is still a risk for Settles.

Anonymous said...

Today is the day!

whiteskill said...

Anyone got any new inside info???? I will be like Master B and explode with any news I get immediately!!!

Anonymous said...

I would like to see them give Woods Adams III a shot at the job. He has done a great job with the (little league) Broncos the past few years. Plus he is a LC legend.

hazmit said...

Woods Adams would be a great choice, he is earning "Mudturtle" fame in the little league circuits. Settles should be everyone's first choice. Everything I have heard about him has been positive. I also think that our administration has been fully supportive. Hopefully Settles will come and he will hire Woods Adams as his head assistant coach.

BS said...

I would love to see a tandem of Settles and Adams.

Anonymous said...

Settles named new head coach yet? someone tap Ralston's phone!

Anonymous said...

talked to a family member of Settles, and there was no word as of Sunday.
Joking aside, anyone have any contact with Stonebraker? He stated in paper that he would be interested in being a coordinator. He lives in Stanford and is married to a CO girl. He struggled at Garrard, but did great things at Casey. Would it hurt to have someone with head coach experience helping with the program? I think not.

hazmit said...

I wouldn't mind seeing Stonebreaker in an assistant capacity. I agree that if we can get assistants with head coaching experience it should be a good thing, as long as the right HEAD coach is in place. However, I don't know Stonebreaker....

Anonymous said...

Football players are anxiously waiting on the announcement, ready to start to work immediately.

BS said...

Stonebreaker did well at Casey against a horrible schedule. But, it was Casey.

I wouldn't mind seeing him as an assistant. But I don't know what type of assistant. Garrard had a horrible offense and a horrible defense.

Rumors are running rampant that Settles will be the new coach. I don't look for any official work until tommorow.

Anonymous said...

I wonder about the assistant coaching staff??? we need at least
three new assistants to be at the
same number that French had. Stony
might be a good choice, for one of those.....

Anonymous said...

settles is going to be new FOOTBALL coach at lincoln, should be announced tuesday, got this info from his mother-in-law about 10 mins. ago.

Anonymous said...

I want to ask BB a Question about Garrard. You talk about how bad they are and what Stonebraker did at Casey. Did Garrard not beat Lincoln during Coach French's first year?

Anonymous said...

Yes they did, but Lincoln was worse.

Anonymous said...

Hazmit,

Head coaching experience is only a plus if they have been part of a successful program in the past. If not, I had rather see assistants that have tasted success and know what it takes to get it. There are alot of assistants that know their side of the ball or the position they coach better than most head coaches, just because they get to specialize in one area. I have heard that Settles already has been talking to some possible assistant candidates. Some are local, some are not.

Anonymous said...

Who is on the List?

Anonymous said...

I could be wrong, but I just see Stoney fitting in at LC. Neither football or personality wise.

Anonymous said...

wasnt Pardue an assistant at Boyle under Chuck Smith? Maybe being an assistant suited him better. Maybe Stonebraker is better when he can concentrate on one side and not be in the pressure seat.

Anonymous said...

Stonebraker is not going to Lincoln. Word is that he is going back home to the Western part of the State,

Anonymous said...

wont believe it until he says it. he married the daughter of a former Crab Orchard Mayor. roots like that run deep. Long live the Mighty Cubs. Why do you think he went to garrard in the first place. Lions - Cubs - Maroon - Gold. Just feel the Crab Orchard/Lincoln County connection. Better than a used Trojan like Kings Mtn Man

Anonymous said...

Stonebraker is not coming to LC. Wonder who will be on Lincoln's Staff?

hazmit said...

I can't wait for the "official" announcement tomorrow. From the way he has handled talking to his players first before "officially" committing to LC to me shows how classy of a guy we are getting. I am excited about Lincoln's future.
I don't have any clue about assistants, I only mentioned Stonebreaker casually but have no connection to him. I heard that Settles has been coaching long enough to have plenty of contacts to recruit the assistants he needs.
On another note, I know that Dr. Wallace personally called Settles and re-assured him that any concerns he had would be addressed by the board and taken care of. I think this shows how much support we have from the administration. It also proves to Settles that our top administrator would contact him and go the extra mile to make Lincoln successful. Thank you Dr. Wallace and board members.

Anonymous said...

I just don't see Stoney and Settles together. Completely different personalities. I'm sure Stoney would jump at the chance but I hope it doesn't happen.

BS said...

Yeah, Garrard beat LC once during the French era. Even that year LC had a chance to win, they fumbled the ball twice inside the ten yard line going in to score.

Garrard has been horrible since Perry left there. Not being rude, being real.

Please tell me the great accomplishments of Stonebreaker. He may be a great person, don't doubt that a bit. But he was a below average football coach in an easy district and region. If you don't believe me, look up the stats.

kings mountain man said...

You would think that Rich Rodriguez was coming to coach. People need to realize Settles is a dime a dozen. As far as Stonebreaker goes people are just fasinated by his name. Grow up Stanford. If you have talent you win, if you dont you dont. All Kentucky high school football boils down to is running off tackle every play in some form or another. The "business men and boys" in town need to give it a rest. 99.9% of them dont even play XBox sports. Stick with loaning money so people can pay their water bill.

Anonymous said...

he does have a cool name

Anonymous said...

Talk is cheap when it comes from the Admin. They sold French with the same old dog and pony show. If all that "support and going the extra mile to make LC successful", had been going on we would not have had to be looking for a new coach. Could it be that some pressure has been put on the Admin. to do their jobs? What a novel concept, get off your ass and do what you are being paid for.

hazmit said...

I don't know how many times you need to hear this....but French left because he thought Boyle County was a better job. More money, easier chance at a title, and I'm sure support over there is better than Lincoln, but my point is there were other factors about him leaving, not just because he didn't get support from the administration. I have talked with several people close to the program that knew nothing about any problems he was having, heck I didn't know he had any problems. Could there have been problems with communication, sure. I think that is why the school board is working hard to make sure that there aren't any communication gaps now.
Maybe they are getting more pressure to get involved, that's what should have happened to begin with. If French would have made his problems known on the front end, then maybe those same interested parties would have gotten involved before now. I believe we have enough people who care about the program that if there are problems, we have people who will get involved and work to resolve them.
Give them some credit, at least they are trying to do the right thing.

BS said...

It's time to get over the old coach, and get excited about the new regime. We don't need to worry about French playing second fiddle in title town.

Like I have said before, if the admin sucks why do we continually get top tier coaches. I am not saying they are the best, and that they could not do better. But they have definitly put forth a good faith effort in securing a great coach, that has an outstanding track record and state finals experience.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Hazmith and BB, it is time to move on, and I am very excited about Coach Settles being our new coach. I am sure that things need to be improved on and now is the perfect time to correct them. I feel that the admin and especially the community are very excited and ready to support the new coach and the program. Welcome Coach Settles to Lincoln County Football!!!!

Anonymous said...

ckysports reports they have made contact with Settles and he has said he will be our new head coach!

Anonymous said...

ckysports has been and always will be behind on all of their reports. They are fast becoming "The Enquirer" of high school sports magazines!

Anonymous said...

I did not know their was high school sports magizines.

I have seen nothing but premautre rumors and bad journalism at CKY sports. They were reporting things about Settles when Settles didn't even know what he was doing. I know this for a fact.

I think Hazmit and Patriot Sports talk is fast becoming the Patriots choice of the best high school information network.

Anonymous said...

Guys... Central Kentucky Sports Magazine will stand behind all of our information and to that fact can produce emails back and forth between Coach Settles and myself. Here is the latest quote from Settles.

"William, I have committed to going to Lincoln County. I wanted to speak to my team first, which I did this morning, before I spoke to any media outlet. I appreciate your patience. It has been a sad day for me here, but I am looking forward to the challenge Lincoln County holds. There needs to be a lot of work done, but the first priority is putting together a staff. Thanks, Mike"

Now if you want the right information and it be accurate, we are the place to get it.

Anonymous said...

Wow! I guess that says it all! Go to ckysports.com for the best of the best and stay here for the best of the best. You guys should really team up Hazmit.

Anonymous said...

WOW!!!!

CKYSPORTS kicks nards.

You guys rock, keep the info flowing

BS said...

CKY was reporting that Settles was going to accept the job last week. They just had the days mixed up. Their intentions were good.
Thanks for all the updates and the attention you all are giving the area. It is unusual for Lexington media types to focus attention on the rural areas of the state like Lincoln County.

Anonymous said...

Remember that they were reporting Settles would be named coach on Friday at first. Settles then asked for a extension and they updated that info once they learned about it. Yesterday was Presidents day and they said that he would be named yesterday or today at the Dunbar game. They were correct from what I have read about their coverage of our school. I think it was a very good two weeks worth of coverage from a media outlet that thought enough about our school and fans to make sure they gave us coverage this year. Good work ckysports!

hazmit said...

I am just happy to have other media outlets following Lincoln County and see our team getting the pub they deserve. I think ckysports intentions were for the best.

Anonymous said...

That cky website looks outdated and is poorly put together. The writing is really poor. Looks like they get their Lincoln County leads off of this blog.

Anonymous said...

I think their website looks great. You are the reason why BIG TOWN MEDIA refuses to cover our sports!

BS said...

I would not call Lexington big town media. Actually they are considered a C market, with D being the lowest. I like the attention the up and coming CKY sports has shown Lincoln County.

The people bashing on here need to stop, even if it is a joke. This people are doing nothing except trying to help exploit the success of the program.

hazmit said...

The only thing I don't like about their website is they took the picture of Ryan "Tom Brady" Young off of the home page!!!!!!Bring back our boys on the home page!!! Seriously, we should savor the fact that they want to cover our school. We have been overlooked in the past, and we are now getting the attention we deserve.

whiteskill said...

Who cares about that, when is Settles coming?????

Anonymous said...

Did you just refer to young as Tom Brady? Come on now....and when we talk about last years team how come no one gives Levi Rogers any credit, since when has lincoln really thrown that much. He was a good a QB that has been here.

Anonymous said...

Levi is the type of kid that does
not want alot of attention, but he
deserves it. He had a great ability
to read on the field. I wish he was
going to the next level.....

BS said...

Levi was as good as a qb that ever played at the school. He got better every year. He could of put up big numbers in a wide open offense.

guru said...

Mr. Mongomery might have something to say about that, but Levi was as good as I have seen.
