Lincoln Eagles win Salt River Conference Tournament

As if we didn't have enough to be cheering about, we can now talk about how promising the future of Lincoln Basketball is going to be. Our own Lincoln Middle School 7th and 8th grade boys won the Salt River Conference, giving us a glimpse of what is soon to come at the high school level. Congratulations to these teams and their coaches, and if anyone has any details please add them.

ckysports.com mentioned the middle school teams in there weekly review. I though that was cool beans.

That is cool... The 6th Grade team goes to Rockcastle tonight for the semifinals of the Salt River Conference Tournament.
If they can win the Tournament Championship, Lincoln County will be the first team in the Salt River Conference history for all 3 teams the 8th, 7th, & 6th to go undefeated in the regular season and then also win the tournament.

If you all want me to start a porno site then I will, but let's focus on sports. I have already purchased the domain name patriotsporno.com so let me know, it will be a pay site though. This free stuff stinks, all of those porno sites make money.

To get back on track with this topic. The 6th grade beat Boyle Co. Last night, 40 to 12. So they are in the Finals on Monday Night against Danville.
The 8th grade team plays Saturday morning at Boyle Co. High School agains Bondurant (Frankfort) at 10:00 A.M. in the Nights of Columbus Tornament first round.

Very Nice! The System Works!!! Give credit to our coaches and parents for the right kind of disipline. I guess the old saying holds true. If you think we are good now, wait until tomorrow.

Congrats to those teams and coaches. I have heard that the coaches are really preparing/teaching these kids before they get to high school, which should lead to great things.

After all is said and done, someone email me some photos of the team and I will try to post them on here.

who coaches the middle school. they are doing a good job, seems like lincoln county is full of big time coaches right now.

i have heard comments, disgruntled parents probably, say that they are only preparing 5 for high school and not developing more. i have not attended a game but thought it would warrant comment. is this the philosophy...to develop just a few (if it is happening)?

hazmit said...

I don't know about developing 5 because I haven't been to any games either. But I was told by the coach that they have 7 players that average 7 or more points, to me that's balance.

William Warfield here from Central Kentucky Sports Magazine. I need a huge favor from one of you great fans???? I need a great action shot of Coach Jeff Jackson for our magazine. I will give credit inside the magazine for the best photo that we receive from you. You can send the photo to our email address SportsPack@ckysports.com

I don't know anything about if they are only preparing 5 players to play down there or not, but how many seniors do you average in basketball anyway??? There are only 3 this year. There were only 5 last year and 2 of them did not play much (Trent Calhoun, Braxton Miller, Chase Overstreet, Derek Todd, & Chris Ramey). Basketball isn't like football, only a limited number of seniors can last for 4 years. There are only 4 juniors this year that get any varsity playing time (Spurlin, Edgington, Gilber, & Ellis). So there will probably only be 4 seniors next year.

Well, the 8th Grade team fell in the Semi Finals of the annual Knights of Columbus Tournament at Boyle Co. High School on Saturday to Lexington Catholic. Catholic went on to win the tourney.

The 6th Grade team goes to Rockcastle Co. Middle School tonight to face Danville Bate Middle in the Championship game of the Salt River Conference Tournament. If they win, Lincoln County will be the first team in Salt River Conference History to go undefeated in the regular season and win the Conference Tournament in the same year by all 3 teams.

The 7th Grade team travels to Lexington KBA to participate in the Middle School State Tournament this Friday, Saturday, & Sunday.

The 8th Grade team will do the same the following weekend.

Good Middle School teams usually turn out to be good High School teams. Just look at this years senior class ( only 3 left of the 8 main players, different story different day )they went 36-1 their 8th grade year winning the 12th region tourney, the knights of columbus and finishing in the final 4 of the Middle School state tournament.

The 6th grade won last night. & I think they are recognizing the middle school teams for their season they had tonight at the varsity baksetball game.

Congrats to those teams and coaches. Can we design the championship rings on this site? I want a gangster 3 finger championship ring.

whoever is coaching the middle school is doing a great job. i think it is steve ralston's nephew.

outstanding job being done over there.

Saw the middle school teams honored at the high school game tonight and it looks like Lincoln is going to have a great future in basketball. Congratulations to them all.

only problem with middle school is that limits the number of players being developed, just a numbers game. when we had 6 grade schools we were developing 20+ 8th graders each year. show me someone who can predict in 8th grade who will be the biggest and best in 4 years, and I will lobby hard to make him head of recruiting for any major college program. Billy Gillespie will not even recruit 8th graders.

I hear it's because of the awesome staff they have over there at the middle school. I only hear good things about that school. The basketball records are just a small portion of the highlights coming out of that school

Well... A new update on the LCMS Basketball teams. The 7th Grade went to Lexington this weekend and had a great showing at the KBA State Tournament. We lost in the final four to Christian County by 4 points. They went on to the championship and lost to Scott County by 2. Final Four of the State Tournament for a Middle School team in Lincoln County hasn't been done since the Seniors this year did it in their 8th grade year.

The 8th grade went to the State Tourney last weekend and had another great showing. They made it to the sweet 16 out of 58 teams. We have a lot to look forward to with this group of middle schoolers as they approach the high school ranks.
