As speculated, ex-offensive coordinator Craig Yeast has left the Lincoln County football team (less than one week before the season). Yeast was the going to be the head man on offense for the Pats, but last week decided to take the same job at Marion County High School.
Yeast will not only be calling the plays in Marion County, he will also be the track coach and working in the school system. This according to an article in today's Advocate Messenger.
It is bad timing for the Pats, losing the offensive co. just days before practice starts. LC is a young team, and the youngsters have spent the entire spring and summer working on Yeast's offense. Now, he has left them high and dry..... overnight. I really don't know where Coach Settles can turn. The most logical thing to do at this point in the year would be to promote from within. Maybe one of the Leffew boys, they played under Bobby Petrino at UofL and Chuck Smith at Boyle County. They definitely played on teams that know how to score points.
The reason promoting from within seems to be the best option is a pure timing issue. It would be too hard to find a spot for a teacher (if a teacher were sought after) and bringing in a brand new coach (who may or may not run a similar offense) would be a tough adjustment. No matter which route they go, they need to find someone who wants to be at Lincoln County. The offensive coordinator position has been a carousel these past few years. The team needs some stability within the offense.

He talked all that stuff in the paper about getting a job in the school system, what happened to all the money from playing PRO football? Is he that hard up for money now?

what he did with the money from pro football has nothing to do with it. do care how coach Jackson spends his $$. I'd say his good friend Anthony Epps helped him out, especially since some of the parents had already tried to run him off! SAD!! Craig Yeast is a good guy & good things happen to good people!

There is NOBODY (including Settles) on the current staff with any experience running any kind of offense. Regardless how you feel about Yeast or any of the other coordinators we have had (or where going to have) over the years.....this hurts. Especially from what I saw from the defense last year.
Agree, Yeast would have sucked also...Who is going to be the new OC. It does not need to come from within.
I'm still worried more about the defense, LC actually led in 5 games last year....the defense was terrible....worst statistically in history.
Daniel Foster has been named Offensive coordinator.
He doesn't have any play calling experience but Foster will give 110%...Good luck to him and the Pats, I hope it works out

Negative, Negative, Negative! You all just won't stop will you? What do you all think you are gaining by all this? I see nothing except causing this team stress and I for one think this site needs to ban it! If you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all! and don't throw stones if you live in a glass house!! I for one wouldn't be throwing them if I couldn't do any better and I don't think you could could you????? Like someone said before I don't think you all would be satified with USC's Coach Pete Carroll, Texas Football Coach Mack Brown or UK's Rich Brooks would you? You would look for some reason to B**CH and complain about something he does wrong so why don't you just support Coach Settles and stop all this and get a life!??
I, for one, wouldn't be satisfied with Rich Brooks. He has a career losing record overall and at UK. That is the definition of a loser.

WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OVERPAID ADMINISTRATORS THAT WANT TO GET RID OF GOOD PEOPLE OF COURSE! I THINK HIS MOTIVATION WAS TRULY FOR GOOD PERSONAL REASONS. LEAVE THE MAN ALONE. HE DID WHAT WAS BEST FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY, AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
I agree with PJ. Some of these posts are repulsive. The players and coaches all need you to support them. That is the definition of fan. The players need to know that they have plenty of support for the hard work they are going to put in for this season and we are behind them and their coaches.
I wish everyone would go back & read what they just wrote. I agree with anonymous, support this site, the coaches & the players or say nothing at all, & please don't come around when we start winning & then be the #1 fan in LC. I think if you can't be positive don't say anything. LC's real #1 FAN.

everybody is acting childish need to growup and be an adult and just support this team these are great kids they do not need this they need to see more people helping out and for the booster club yea we need help from all of you parents please help i know one woman has got a big mouth and says things that makes you mad be like me bite your tongue or just tell her what you think its for our kids we need everybody to help please

We love Matt, but I think that the hole class will be tough. You got Matt , Brandon, Austin, Jericho, Jacob, Ryan, Daniel and the sleeper is John boy, Just to name a few.
Coach Settles is asking for all parents, boosters and who ever is interested in what going on with this years team to attend the meeting tonight at 8:00. Stuff like camp, booster club, new schedule among other things. (Meeting at Lincoln Football field house) Also full pads tonight. Please attend...
we need do not need to worry about 1 young man 1 man dont win games it takes the whole team and the coaches will put his 11 best on the feild yes i agree we have alot of talented youg men but please dont point out one good or bad that is what happened last year support the whole team thats what they need
Yes people if a kid has had a bad game don't break him down, support him and lift him up. Lest be positive. We all won't Lincoln back on top. Lets as a community act like we deserve to be their.
