*Rumor has it Garrard County boys basketball Head Coach Lee DeForrest has resigned as the head man at GCHS to take an assistant job at another school. This is a big blow to the Golden Lions, DeForrest as a very promising young head coach.
*There is also some big news involving the Patriots. Craig Yeast has left the Lincoln County football staff. Perhaps to take a job at another school. If so, that's bad timing for the Pats who have had a carousel of offensive coordinators the past few years.
Now, for some more important news. FOOTBALL STARTS NEXT MONDAY.

It's true!! I talked to Settles about 5 min ago, HE'S NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT, BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO. I have been told that Marion gave Yeast a teaching job, that didn't come from Settles, I forgot to ask about that.
This just sucks for the kids.
I thought this would end bad for us, seeing how the school come down so hard on Yeast for some bad words he had said. I hope Settles can pull a OC out of a hat. I know that Yeast looks at this site. I just don't see how he could do this to these kids..... I gess he was looking out for #1 himself.
Yeah, Yeast quit on Lincoln County after certain people put their kneck out there for him. Sure there was a few parents upset over the cussing, but overall I think people were excited about the potential.
Coach Settles should be upset. You can't quit on these kids one day before the season starts. That is pathetic, and shows a lack of character.

How can Yeast do this to the Kids??? We went over the Principal's head and had Larry Woods tell Mr Godbey that he had to keep Yeast and for WHAT ?? I for one am a parent that has made a bad mistake, WE SHOULD HAVE GOT RID OF HIM WHEN WE HAD THE CHANCE A LONG TIME AGO. Mr Yeast, because he is no coach in my book, should never be let back on the school grounds for what he has done to Lincoln's program when leaving 1 day before the season starts.

Read the post again whoever you are. I could care less about what you think or say about me or whether you like me or not. I'm here to coach football and I'm good at it! I wasn't talking about myself. Go back and read the post there's a difference between talking myself up and answering some of your sily questions like what has he ever done! i don't need to talk myself up cause y6ou already know, my backround speaks for itself. Further, i didn't on this site because of what you said about me, it's when you talk about my friends i have a problem with that! You don't know Tim Couch and you certainly don't know me.
Support is the best thing for your son! I came here to coach football and the best interest for your kid is in my heart. You seem to forget that I did not call the offense last year. Get over yourself and cheer for your son. I don't care one bit if you like me or not...I will continue to coach your son hard, I will be tough, there will be a level of expectation for him to achieve and hope it makes him better and helps prepare him for life after high school. Do you expect the best out of your son like i do??? Or do you think whatever you get out of him is ok???

At the field every mon and wed trying to help coach Settles build his Football Program at Lincoln County High School. When school is out I will be there pretty much everday. I think you need to look at what there going to give him and what we werent #1 hes getting a teaching job. and #2 he wont have to listen to all the crap about him but without him plan on lincoln having another bad season.

Quite honestly we are better off without him. He talked down other coaches on the staff last year behind their backs. That didn't show much character and now we find out that he really doesn't have any anyways. He wouldn't have gotten the job done for our offense anyway and it is best we get someone with better potential to be an offensive coordinator. I would be happy if Levi Rogers were named the OC. He would run a better offense than yeast anyway.
Rogers is going to play College ball/ and to the person who said Lincoln will now have a bad season without Yeast, we had him lastyear. I can not wish him luck, I feel for the players that had to put up with his crap all spring. And to the parents who wanted Yeast!( you got him and he does this to your kid. HOW DO YOU FEEL NOW?

We will not have a bad season because Yeast is not here. The offense would have struggled with him and he would have ended up putting all the blame on the players. If you don't believe me then just look what he has done by leaving. He only looks out for himself and does and says what is best for Craig Yeast. I wonder if he is telling kids at his camps to put their team first?
I agree with the majority of posters on here. Yeast would not have done a good job anyway. I think we would be better off with Travis Leffew as OC. Or maybe Coach Settles can run the offense and let Bobby Leffew run the defense. Those are the only two options I see if something is done with the current staff.
The only other options in the county would be having Darren Yaden come back on just a one year basis to get us through the season unless he wants to stay longer. Chris Cooper has coordinator experience, is not coaching anywhere and lives in the county, but teacher elsewhere. Former head coach Tim Estes is good friends with coach Settles so that may end up being an option. Other than that we may be trying to lure away a coach from another local staff to be a first time coordinator. But who knows if they would come this late and leave their current school. I don't think many coaches would do that.....

These people were doing what they thought would be best for the team and their kids. So lets not bash our own. We as Lincoln Co have got to come together and support these kids, they didn't ask for this or they didn't do anything wrong.

AS A PERSON ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN, AND ALSO KNOWING COACH YEAST, I THINK THERE ARE TWO SIDES TO THIS SITUATION.
YOU ARE RIGHT TO BE UPSET THAT HE LEFT, AND THE TIMING OF WHICH IT OCCURRED. HOWEVER; HE HAD GOOD REASONS TO LEAVE. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TRYING TO PROVE A POINT OR INTENTIONALLY HURT THE KIDS. I TALKED TO HIM AND IT HAD ALL TO DO WITH A JOB OPPORTUNITY PLUS AN OPPORTUNTIY TO CONTINUE TO COACH. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT CAME UP OUT OF NOWHERE, AND IN COACHING- YOU HAVE TO GRAB AN OPPORTUNITY WHEN IT COMES YOUR WAY. HE WAS NOT SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER COACHING JOB. THEY CONTACTED HIM.

Yeast helped my son from day one, my son is a better player because of him.
Do I like the spot we are in because of Yeast? That's a big No! But Yeast is doing what he things would be best for him and his family. I don't think that I would have done it like he did? But that's me. I talked to Yeast and to Settles yesterday, Yeast said if we use his offense he would take one day a week to help the new OC. Not sure if we are going to do this or not. And when I talked to Settles he was not happy about what has happen, but he will do what he thinks is best for these kids and Lincoln football.
And just like always I will stand up for what I think is best for Lincoln Football, at that time it was Yeast. I will not coward behind some false name like "Anonymous said..." ever pots I have made I use my name. Because a person with character will stand and give his or her name for what they believe in.
I wish we had this much involvement in our football booster. Its one think to get on a web site and act like you care and another thing to show up and do something to help. So like me or not, I will stand up for these kids and coaches and I will be their to help if we are 1-9 or 10-0.

The whole Yeast soap opera has been amazing from the get go. None of this surprises me, I just feel sorry for the people who took up for him.
Look I don't have a kid on the team my son is in Middle School. I just hope Settles get this fixed before we get their.

Don't feel sorry for me! My son loved coach Yeast and he is a freshmen this coming year and will miss him. I don't know what will happen this season BUT I do know that this isn't Coach Settles fault and you all saying that he should go if he lets Yeast come back over and help is BULLS**t yeah the same word Yeast used that he got all the flack over and almost got fired over! Well he's gone now and I hope all of you all are happy now BUT once again you all are upset that he left!! LOL Don't you all ever get what you want? Yeah I was one that wanted him to stay and I wish he had of but if we keep his plays that the boys already know and practice hard and DO NOT bring back has been OC's then I think we should do fairly good. What about Steve Singleton? He knew all the plays and worked well with the guys. Why not give him a shot at it? I just wish that the LC Football Boosters had this much involvement if we did then we would have thousands in our bank account and not have to depend on a hand few to do all the work. I support our coach and his decision on this team and all our young men on this team and will be at all the games win or loose cheering them on!! GO PATS!!!!!!
I've seen a few comments regarding boosters, I never see the booster club doing anything to invite membership and involvement. Whey do you meet? What type of fundraisers are planned, etc.?
I am saddened to hear that Coach Yeast left and I wish him the best. My son and family are some that supported him during this mess.
As for our team lets move forward not backward. LC is really good at pointing fingers. Lets stop and unite and make it a better atmosphere for our boys! GO PATS!!!

I am loving how some of you want to point the finger at everyone accept the man that mad the decision to leave the program.
Do I blame him? No. A man has to make tough decisions some time. The timing was bad, and I am sure Craig thought a lot about where he was leaving LC. But in the end, he did what he thought was best for him.
As for the administration comment. That is bull. You can't put this one on the administration! Tim Godbey, Ralston, and whoever you want to lump in with them have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this.
I feel bad personally that I wanted Craig to come back. Atleast if he had gone in the first place LC would have had enought time to replace him. Now we don't!
As for the comments that the football team was going to be bad anyway... Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't. But anytime you have turnover in a job or in a team, the team suffers PERIOD. Hopefully in this case it will be addition by subtraction as Coach Yeast was a very polorizing figure in the locker room.
The kids Loved him or Hated him. There were very few in-betweens from the conversations that I have had with the players.
I hope Lincoln does well this year and in the future. But to think that Craig was ever going to stay here for the long term. This was always a stepping stone. He just jumped off the stone earlier than I thought.

Bullcrap the administration DID NOT want him there and they were just waiting for him to make a mistake so they could fire him don't think any different!! EVERYONE knew that and if you think different you are a fool!! That's all I will say about that and if you do think different you don't know the facts in what happened with everything and therefore I don't blame Yeast for leaving it's just the timing that I don't agree with! He was feeling pressure from them to do everything in order and not the way he would do things!!!! Believe it or not that's the truth and it hurts doesn't it!???????!!!

I just spoke to a person in the know in Lincoln County. Craig did not get a teaching job in Marion County because he doesn't have a degree. So he can't even be emergency certified. So whoever posted that at the top of the page doesn't know what they are talking about.
I think Levi Rogers is going to Linsdey Wilson. The college is planning on having a football program next school year so he will have to wait a year to actually play football.
Levi will play JV this year.
Coach Settles is asking for all parents, boosters and who ever is interested in what going on with this years team to attend the meeting tonight at 8:00. Stuff like camp, booster club, new schedule among other things. (Meeting at Lincoln Football field house) Also full pads tonight. Please attend...
