Pats Fall 53-20

Lincoln went on the road for the third straight week, and lost to the Scott County Cardinals 53-20. The Pats trailed 20 to 0 after the 1st quarter, and never recovered.

The LC rushing attack was in full force, Trey Edwards and Skyler Gilbert both ran for over 100 yards. Gilbert ran for one touchdown, and caught two through the air. Trey Edwards started the game at halfback, and moved over to quarterback in the second quarter. He ignited the offense, throwing a td pass in the second quarter and adding one more in the second half.

On to Hopkinsville...

Be glad when its over.

I'm sure your not the only one, but I'm still proud of these guys not ever giving up. Trey had to move to QB and can still barely lift his arm above his head.

What happen to little #5 QB?
I though they would of let him in to QB in this game. He needs all the game time he can get.

He got his hand steeped on. He said he couldn't take snaps. He couldn't grip the ball.

He needs to learn how to play with pain... Thats what wrong with Kids these days..Be there for your team mates. play with pain.

Time to take looking forward to next season. What do we need to do to be better next year?

Anonymous said...

The best thing is our 5 or6 juniors will be seniors and our 10 or 15 sophomores will be juniors.
I also think some of the sophomores that didn't play this year will be coming out to play next year. The one that would help us so much is the Hill boy. He could be one of the best receivers in the state if he will work hard.

Yadden look at hines hand and told him just to set this one out. Hines asked to go back in I was standing next to Yadden when he told him no.

hill will not play football, jackson has messed with his mind like he has with several other basketball players, hill doesn't like the contact in football, afraid he will get hurt, it takes a really tough guy to play football and not worry about getting hurt, unless the juniors who will be seniors mature alot, next year will not be any better, maybe settles can get an easier schedule

This is HINDS I ASKED TO GO BACK IN AND COACH YADDEN TOLD ME NO. I HAVE AND CAN PLAY WITH PAIN I PLAYED 3 DAYS AFTER IN JV GAME AFTER RECIEVING A PINCHED NERVE IN MY BACK EVEN THOUGHT THE DR TOLD ME TO SITT OUT FOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS, I DEMANDED TO BE RELEASED SO I COULD PLAY FOR MY TEAM MATES!

Little Hinds keep your head up. You will get your turn, like big Hinds has told me "The sophomores will be very good team as seniors"
The BIG L TRAIN is in good hands. Keep up the hard work......... Hope to see you at P-Fit (6:00AM) after this season is over. You just need to keep working hard. It will pay off.

And to all the Bloggers. Lets keep supporting this team. If we believe we will achieve... Lets stay positive.

Hinds is a tough kid, I saw his fingers taped up with blood dripping off of them, I'm sure he would have played if asked but I don't know if he could have taken a snap and why risk getting him hurt worse already down 30-0 or whatever it was?? I'm with the coaches on this one.

Agree, Things will get better. TIME TO SHINE IN 09!!!!!

Anonymous said...

who will shine in 09?

Anonymous said...

That is a good question. Who will shine in '09? Who is on the team that is going to shine? I hope that there are some freshman coming up and 8th graders coming up that can get the job done. They are really going to have to step it up.

Anonymous said...

maybe we should put our focus on all the players not just one kid shining I think that lc will play better if they play for the team and not just to stand out

Football is a team sport. You can't have 1 or 2 good players to be a good team. Things will be ok...

Anonymous said...

Look at Lincoln last year. They had about four good seniors and had a great season. Take those four players off and they would be the same team they are now. Without talented players you cannot have a talented team.

Anonymous said...

we have several talented underclass men this year they just lack the experience that it takes to play the game well, but next year they all will have had more experience and we will have a better season

Anonymous said...

Agree, next year will be much better..Its a team game and it always will be... There is no I in Team...

Anonymous said...

there were more than 4 or 5 good seniors last year...young, brummett, denson, walls, long, keeton, reed, foister, plus the juniors...marcum, edwards, gilbert, contaser, owlsley, harris, they were the team, it takes seniors and juniors to win, you can not win with sophomores and freshmen, that has been proven this year!

Anonymous said...

You must have forgot one important person off that team, the guy who took ever snap!!! How fast people forget..

Anonymous said...

levi, not forgotten, and yes he was one of the best!

Anonymous said...

Owsley hasn't played all year, and Harris hasn't played but a few games this year.......

Anonymous said...

that's part of the problem, to many young players with no experience

For all the people who believe that Lincoln is going to be so much better please tell me who is going to take the place of Skyler Gilbert's nose for the ball and amount of tackles he makes, or take the place of Trey Edwards' playmaking ability on both sides of the ball, or Rob Conatser's will to make plays blocking, receiving, or playing defense, or Chase Marcum's blocking ability for which he is regarded as one of the best in the state, and that's just to name a few of the seniors... I've seen this team play JV and Varsity and no one on that field can even compare to these boys' heart, determination, or ability... when you find somebody to take their places that can do the job and carry the load these boys have, then you can talk about how much better they will be without them..

Anonymous said...

couldnt have said it better... there is definitely no one on the team that can block like chase marcum, i dont know how many of you were at the scott county game but i saw him pick up a blitzing linebacker and slam him to the ground, and this was scott co.'s first team...trey edwards will truly be missed as well, that has been proved this year when edwards hasnt been playing quarterback there have been a tremendous amount of dropped snaps and bad throws... the past 3 seasons there has been one dominate defensive player, particularly a linebacker that has stood out in my mind... 3 years ago it was Jacob Elliot, last year it was Dustin Brummett, and this year it is Skyler Gilbert... i dont see LC having that one dominate player on the defense next season..

Anonymous said...

The last year and two years ago LC had a complete dominating defensive team. Elliot,Halcomb, Brummett,Reed,Denson,Gilbert were as good as a linebacker core as you could want in a High School team. Gilbert could not carry the load alone this year. Big big shoes to fill,to get a group as good as these guys.

maybe the fans should stop living in the past and give the future a chance exspecially if any of the players are reading this with fans like these who really needs to play any teams because all the negativity you have already defeated next years team GROW UP AND LET THESE BOY'S ALL THE BOY'S PLAY THE GAME THAT THEY LOVE AND PUT THEIR HEART AND SOUL IN!!

Anonymous said...

This is a game our communitiy supports greatly. We need to support them as parents and fans even more so. All the boys have had a tough year. There is no "I" in TEAM and we need to support the ones going out, staying, and the ones comeing up. Also, the coaching staff needs our support also. They have had a tough year also.

Anonymous said...

Gilbert can be replaced... Any player can be replaced.... Lets talk about something else.

Anonymous said...

If Gilbert has such a nose for the ball why was the safety making most of your tackles in 1st and 2nd half of the Scott Co game??
Gilbert could have been one of the best Lincoln has ever had BUT he has a lack of heart...............
And I DON'T REMBER ANY OF THE GUYS YOU PUT IN YOUR BLOG AS UNDERCLASS MEN. IF THAY HAD TO STEP UP AS DID THESE BOYS DID YOU WOULD HAVE THE SAME THINK. SO LETS STOP ALL THIS AND GET READY FOR NEXT YEAR.

Anonymous said...

AMEM!!!!!!!!!! Thank you

Anonymous said...

Amem !!!! But Gilbert is not even in the top 15 or 20 players for Lincoln all time ... Next year here we come... 09!!!

Anonymous said...

All the scores for Lincoln came against Scott's JV team..

Anonymous said...

And most of the tackles was made on Scott's JV team..

Anonymous said...

Agree,, we understand now...

Anonymous said...

When the tough gets going...we give up? We make negative comments about high school boys trying to play their hearts out? Come on Patriot fans... Let's support these kids through our last game. It's the last game that many of the boys will play. Let's leave them with the memories of the devoted fans. Football in Lincoln County is and always will be great..No matter what the record of the season.

Anonymous said...

Record of the season does matter to the real Lincoln Fans...Players and parents should not even read this stuff because they get mad and upset. We will always back the kids , but everyone wants to win...I don't think no one on this Blog is talking the kids down, but just saying what they think. Now don't take this the wrong way, do you think someone from Boyle Co would say they don't care about the record of the season, this is not Little League.

Anonymous said...

The record does matter, but most LC fans are intelligent enough to know that ALL county programs have "down" years, that includes BC. One season is no reason to panic, I do believe Settles is doing the right things to build our program into the consistent winner it was in the late 80's and 90's.......time will tell.

Anonymous said...

with most things change makes a difference. the coaching staff change has been harder on the boys that played with the old coaching staff, change is hard but not always bad. I think it's been a good thing GO PATS!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

how does Gilbert have a lack of heart...? and if you knew anything about football then you would have seen all four linebackers getting hit by scott co. lineman all night. in a 4-4 defensive scheme this is not supposed to happen, the d-ends are taught to squeeze the tight end or tackle down, and the d-tackles are not supposed to let guards come off free, a 4-4 scheme is designed for linebackers to make tackles and if the lineman get to the linebackers then there is no one to make the tackle, as shown friday night vs. scott co

if you are going to question my heart then don't do it on some website, please come see me personally ;)

BS said...

Let's please not personally attack any of the kids on the team. This web site is for support, not bashing. All the seniors have played hard all year, and for their entire career. Personally I am going to miss watching all of them.

It is ridiculous to question a kids heart/determination. Especially Skyler Gilbert. That kid has been a good player for Lincoln County and has played hard his entire career, as all the seniors have.

This senior class has dealt with a lot of different things. More good than bad, this season was a perfect storm of negativity. A surprise departure of a head coach, massive injuries, etc. One thing to keep in mind is that these seniors have played for four different offensive coordinators. That's not an easy thing to do...

Coach Settles, given time, will build this program the right way. Keep the faith, and support the team. If you are not going to support the team, this blog might not be for you.

I feel ashamed that our "fans" actually say these things about the team. If everyone is so caught up about next year just don't show up to the last game. I am so tired of reading the comments on this website. I guarantee you that our seniors will play every play as hard as they can. Bash the team all you want but you better not consider yourself a fan, cause we don't want you if that's all you have to say

Anonymous said...

I think Boyle got room for you...

Anonymous said...

Too many bandwagon haters... If you can't withstand a bad season, get loss. We don't need fans like that.

Anonymous said...

i guarantee boyle fans do not act this childish

Anonymous said...

what inmature parents we have, the negative comments are being posted by them because thats all that was at the scott co. game...i'm sure the players get along just fine, but its always a small group of jealous parents who cause all the trouble, and its obvious its the underclassmen parent(s)!

Anonymous said...

Inmature????You talk about negative comments and you turn around and do the same thing and call out the.. ( underclassmen parents ) This season is over and ALL OF YOU !! FRESHMEN THUR SENIORS HAVE BEEN APART OF THE WORST SEASON EVER AT LINCOLN... so keep talking this stuff.... People will always remember you guys... 1-9 Next Blog please>>>

Anonymous said...

I don't think its our parents. I think some kids that have all of you worked up over nothing.. We love our kids, all of our kids. We know that its been a bad year and we can't lay the blame on the seniors or the underclassmen. All the adversity was to much to over come. We will be back on top, as the numbers grow and the kids mature. I hope our seniors go out with a BIG W.
I asked my son to stop looking at this blog. I told him you are always going to have someone saying you should do or you should not do this or that. The only other thing I can say is to grow up.
Thanks
Wayne Hinds

As I sit here and read all the comments on the blog, my mind is wondering..... How long have you guys followed Lincoln Football? Well let me tell you guys something, Lincoln Football over the past 30 plus years have always and I mean Alway had the support of the community. And we will
continue to support the program, team, and the kids. Its takes a lot to keep a good program up an running.Quit being NEGATIVE..... Support the Kids, Support the Program, support the TEAM. And if you look there is NO I in TEAM.

Anonymous said...

Agree,,, I think someone said that way back... Lincoln will be back on Top... There IS NO I IN TEAM!!!!!
