Jaggers out at Mercer County

Ex-Lincoln County Head Coach (football) Marty Jaggers has resigned as head coach of the Mercer County Titans. Jaggers wanted to retire and stay on as coach, like many other local coaches have done recently, and the Mercer County Administration wanted no part of it.

Mercer is probably looking at this as a cost saving situation. But it is hard to replace good football coaches, and like him or not Marty Jaggers is a great football coach. He won the state championship at Mercer three years ago and he also guided Lincoln County to a state title game appearance in 1993. Jaggers was 36-14 at Mercer County. Jaggers was 49-27 in his tenure at Lincoln county.

This is good news for Lincoln County, Mercer County shouldn't be as good without him. Makes the district a little easier... I hope.

From the Advocate Messenger article:

However, he also had a 49-27 mark in six years as head coach at Lincoln and took the Patriots to their only state title game in 1993 when Lincoln went 13-2.

This is false, the Pats also made it in 1990. Doesn't surprise me though...

Does that mean if Coach Settles & Coach Yeast leave we might be willing to hire Coach Jaggars back? Cool, it is always good to have a back-up plan.

Why don't you people go jump off a tall bridge this bashing of our coaches is really getting OLD. If you don't like them then leave the county and go somewhere else it's pretty simple don't you think but don't try and change something before you give these guys a chance and once again I see you are being a coward and NOT leaving a name typical coward hiding behind the computer instead of just comfronting someone if you don't like them! Go to where you like the coaches not where you don't! Like I said before you people doing this complaining wouldn't be satified with Rich Brooks as your coach!

The blog never mentioned anyone at LC leaving???

The idea of Jaggers coming back to Lincoln County is not very realistic. I think the the current regime will do a fine job, given the time and resources. (And they are much younger.)

I would bet the value of this priceless blog site that Jaggers will never again be Lincoln's coach.

You know what I had hoped that who ever was leaving all this crap would just grow up and shut up if nothing else for the sake of your son. The FOOTBALL SEASON is just around the corner is your son that unhappy with this team that you feel that everyone else should have to suffer because if your child is not unhappy with all your negativity he will be unhappy maybe you should get some perfessional help because if you are an adult you sure don't act like one. Have you ever ask your child if he is ashamed of you? maybe you should!

no but if your going to say things you should be big enough to let people know who you are or you should keep your mouth shut and if you are throwing playing time toward my son he has earned it.
Maybe you don't want anyone to know who you are because your all talk and afaird of what it might do for your sons football playing time Thank GOD our coaches are better people than that.I have said nothing on here that I would not tell the coaches to their faces can you say that? Get a Life and not your sons
Thank you

This needs to be a positive blog site for Lincoln Co Sports, The kids read this stuff. I think that BB and Hazmit need to take all the comments off this blog that are not helping the kids. We need to lift up these kids not tear them down. So PLEASE let this kind of stuff be on topix and not Patriot sports talk. If you can't than just shut the blog down. You got to ask your self Hazmit and BB if your son was on the team would you won't bad stuff on this blog about him or his coaches.
Not to mention the other teams are reading this and just eating this stuff up. It makes the whole community look bad.

I love this site and think they do a good job of letting people speak there mind, as long as they don't get carried away. I've sseen them remove things before. These guys give coverage to the school that no one else will do. It's ok if we (fans) disagree on certain topics. But I do agree, we need to get on board and support these coaches, they are OUR coaches and need OUR support.

yes I agree but also the remark about the players playing time(sure wish i had kissed some butt thru my sons football years at lincoln! and the blog before it) is just uncalled for don't dog the boys either come on guys, don't take anything away from the boys they all work hard and that is just low for anyone. Would you want anyone dogging your kidds? I surely wouldn't.

We usually only delete topics that name a particular player and make derogatory comments toward that person. Adults can handle themselves, so we usually let them go as long as it's not too bad. But if anyone has a problem with any comment, shoot us an email and we'll take care of it. We do this site to support Lincoln County sports and players. I hope everyone supports this site and enjoys that we created it. Neither of us have kids in the high school, so we have nothing to gain. Go Patriots.

If anyone is interested we recieved the freshmen and JV schedule in the mail on Friday. We have 5 freshmen games on the schedule and I can't wait! From what I have heard it has been a few years since Lincoln has had a freshmen team so give these coaches a hand for giving us this team! I am so proud of ALL these young men and I hope and pray we do have at least 20 freshmen that come out for the team we have around 16 right now and we need at least 4 or 5 or even more! I am positive we will be on the winning side this year and the years to come! So EVERYONE support this football team come to ALL the games and cheer them on! GO PATRIOTS!!!!

Heard that the Freshmen team is down to 15 players. Looks like there will not be a freshmen team after all. Lincoln should have around 25-30 freshmen each year. Could be because basketball is playing games and the baseball team has summer games also..

Anonymous said...

Yep that is why there aren't as many there BUT we still have around 17 players so your numbers are wrong!! and even more are coming out.

Anonymous said...

Sounds great!! That many Freshmen is a great thing, this means that Freshmen will not have to practice with the Upper Classmen. Who is going to be the Freshmen coach? The freshmen don't need to practice with the old guys, what good does that do? None!! Great things are to come, 7 to 8 wins this year, then back to the top next year. We have the best staff in the state, no school can touch them..Maybe the best coaching staff ever at Lincoln. I think it is..

Anonymous said...

I think you are right. The best around.

If they can win 8 games with this team, then you will be right. The best coaching staff around. I am not sold on that number though.
