Ethan Spurlin was named Kentucky Association 12th Region Player of the Year last week. This week he was a unanimous choice for the Advocate Messenger's Area Player of the Year. Spurlin averaged 20pts, 7 rebounds and 4 assist per game.

He was joined, on the All Area Team, by fellow senior Trevor Edgington. Edington was named to the second team. He averaged 10 points and 4 assist per game. Another senior Patriot, Skyler Gilbert, was All Area honorable mention.

Congratulations to Ethan, Trevor & Skyler.

Also congratulations, Coach Jeff Jackson was finally named 12th Region Coach of the Year after Robert Jones of McCreary Central had gotten it during the past 2 seasons.

Robert Hammonds was the past two years.... In all honesty should have won the honor again this year. And no way is Spurlin better than Watts and Polson. Kinda hard to understand who really voted on these awards. I say that with the love for Spurlin and Jackson but honestly people what gives here?

Isn't it generally given to a senior? Now, whether it's voted on for talent or heart or combination of both? Who knows.

spurlin can play any position on the floor, and yes he did deserve this award, you obviously did not see his stats, the heart award would go to gilbert, polson and watts can "shoot it out next year" when they are seniors

robert jones was COY last season, not robert hammonds.. young was POY last year.

Trevor Edgington played such a HUGE part this year as well. Remember he had to fill those shoes of the POY for 07-08! He's definately a combination of talent & heart.

ckysports.com named Spurlin Player of the Year. Also named Gilbert and Edgington to their all 12th region teams under honorable mention. They sent it out yesterday on their newsletter.
