The season is winding down, and the district tournament is set to start next week. Both, boys and girls, have had great regular seasons. Both finishing first in the 45th district.
The Girls finished district play a perfect 6-0. They will play Danville (the host school) in the first round of the district tournament next week. The Lady Pats are the favorite in the 45th.
The Boys finished in a tie for first place with Boyle County. Since the two teams tied, they had to go to a tie-breaker. The first tie-breaker was common 12th region opponents (teams that both Boyle Co. and LC played against this season) at common venues. It came down to two teams. Both played @ Mercer Co. and at @ West Jessamine. Here's where it gets complicated. Boyle won @ Mercer County and lost @ West. LC won @ West and lost @ Mercer. So tie-breaker one didn't help.
On too tie-breaker two. The good old coin flip. And...... Boyle won that. Therefore they get the one seed in the district tournament. Which is a big deal this season, Danville is a dangerous 3 seed. Especially on their home court. The Pats will have to win for a third time this season against the Ads in order to make it to the 12th region tournament. Boyle will face a very weak Garrard County team (basically a bye).
Should be an exciting girls and boys tournament. People need to get out and support the teams next week.

What A Week
The Patriots picked up their second straight victory on Tuesday night. They started the week winning a key district game against Boyle County. Tuesday night they played Marion County.
The Pats blew them away, 77-60, but the real story is senior guard Colby Long. Long poured in 45pts for LC. Congrats to Long and Pats.

Rivalry?
I'm pretty sure this Advocate Messenger article, story, is referring to the LC/BC rivalry. The BC kids really gave it to LC a couple weeks ago when they split a double-header with LC. I honestly couldn't believe some of the stuff they were saying.
Probably a good time to run this story, hopefully the LC kids won't act the same way tomorrow night when BC travels to LC for a girl/boys double-header. A very important game for the boys in their quest for the district 1 seed.
The boys basketball series between these two has really heated up the last decade. The girls have pretty much owned the district for years now.
