The 1-7 Lincoln County Patriots will travel to Georgetown this Friday night to play the Scott County Cardinals. This marks the second straight year that the Pats will travel to Scott County. You know, the good old we come to your place two straight years scheduling, where the road team is awarded (I hope at least) some of the gate.
Anyway, the scheduling this year was really bad. Finishing the season with four straight road games is craziness. That's one thing I would like to see changed before next season. I assume the old regime was having a hard time filling out the schedule and just agreed to take an away/away series to do so, against a quality opponent.
This is going to be another very tough match up. Scott County is quite possibly the best team the Pats have played all year. They ranked in the top five in 6A in almost every poll you look at. They enter the contest with a 6-2 record (3-0, district). The only common opponent between the two is Tates Creek. The Pats lost to Tates Creek in the second week of the season and the Cardinals just recently beat Tates Creek 34-20.
I hope to see a better crowd up in G-town this week, I was ashamed of the turnout last week in Somerset. Lincoln County Patriot fans are too faithful to quit on the season, get out and show the seniors how appreciative you are of their careers at Lincoln. Go to the game this Friday.
The kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. One side note, last year the Scott County band did a halftime Halloween show. It pretty much rocked, so if you go stay in your seats at the half and see if they do it again. You won't be disappointed.

The game starts at 7:30. I hear Scott is paying LC $3000 or so to play each year which is pretty much like a bowl game. Other than that I can see nothing positive from this match up. French really dropped the ball on this schedule, probably the toughest in LC history. A good time for him to leave..... LOL
I believe last years schedule was a considerable amount harder.
$3000.00 is why LC is playing at Scott Co. Takes money to run a football program, when the adminstration fails to provide it it has to come from some place. Do not place the blame on LC lack of success on the schedule, was no harder than last year.
i highly doubt the old regime had trouble scheduling games...he is a pretty well known figure in KY high school football...i dont know why there would be a problem scheduling when LC was a top tier team for the past two years..just stating the obvious. Besides I think its kinda good to play on the road towards the end of the year..it tests your team for post season (if you are going to make it)
First poster...lets support our current team and not dog the former regime...schedule is no tougher than last year.. and french's boyle schedule is considerably difficult as well.
IT IS STUPID TO PLAY FOUR ROAD GAMES IN A ROW. NO MATTER HOW YOU SPIN IT. AND QUIT THE LACK OF SUPPORT BULL CRAP, THAT FOOTBALL PROGRAM GETS PLENTY OF SUPPORT. MORE THAN MOST RURAL SCHOOLS IN THIS STATE.
Who cares if you get $3,000 to play. You still won't make as much as a home game. Lincoln averages much more than 600 people at home games. 600x5 per person. $3,000.
That's not counting the loss of concessions, travel exspenses to Scott County, etc. They would of been much better off scheduling a Danville, Casey County, Somerset, Boyle County etc. Heck, if money is what you want, schedule Boyle of Danville. We LC lose, probably this year. But LC would have beaten both of them the past two seasons.
In all honesty, you have just as much, or better, of a chance of knocking off Danville than you do Scott. And you get a huge gate for those games. No matter what the records are.
As for the arguement of playing good teams on the road to end the season. I agree. I just think not playing a home game the last month of the season is poor management of the schedule.
The schedule this season is not quite as good as last year, IMHO. Bell County and Bardstown are MUCH better than Washington and Tates Creek. That's the difference to me. Besides that, it's pretty much chalk. Those are two games LC should've won.
Being a "top tier" team makes it difficult to schedule. Especially when you are one of few 5a teams in the area. No one wants to play when you are good. However, this (away/away) with Scott was obviously set three years ago. So, it still makes no sense, LC was not an elite team then.
As for the kickoff time... It was announced after the game (on the radio) last week that kickoff was set for 8pm. It is also listed that way on the KHSAA website. If that is incorrect, please confirm.
Confirmed from one of the coaches that the game starts at 7:30.
7:30 is correct.
BB you can not help yourself from bashing French can you. To say that when the Scott Co. game was scheduled that LC was not a top tier team is a little disingenuous. LC was a program on the rise. The same can not be said now.
If you play any of the team that you talked about you will have to do a home and home. One half of the money over a two year period.
The out come of a game this year with Danville,Boyle,Somerset would have been just as bad as the one with Scott Co. Im am not sure that we can beat Casey Co.
Also you math of 600x5= 3000 is correct but where that money goes is different. $3000 for playing the Scott Co. game goes to the football team. To be used on the football team. $3000 from the gate for a home game goes to the school. Can be used anyway they want, say for new seats for the gym.
i was told they were paying $5000
Its all about the Money...
I am not bashing French. He is a great coach. I am just bashing his scheduling. I don't care who made the schedule, and when it was made. Four straight road games, and an away/away series with a 6a power is not smart. I am in no way bashing Coach French, he is one of the best. At the same time, I am not going to live in the past. He left LC, I support Coach Settles and his staff now.
You know who plays away/away series in college football? Norfolk St., Tenn. Tech, EKU ETC. Not the "top tier" teams.
LC would demolish Casey, heck Garrard even beat them.
Norfolk St.,Tenn. Tech., EKU play these games for the same reason that LC is playing Scott Co. MONEY!
That 6A power you are talking about can a hair of getting it butt beat by a 5A power last year so I dont see it as bad scheduling at all. Scott Co.has upheld its end of the deal by still remaining a top notch team it is sure not their fault that LC did not.
As far as LC and Casey that remains to be seen. I dont a 1-7 team, fourth from the bottom of their class should be talking about demolishing anyone.
